Shorts for Summer

Summer has arrived for us in the UK (for how long we don't know) so Urban Trends is here to give the guys a little advice on what type of shorts will best suit your body type.

For the slender legged fella Urban Trends recommends slim fitting shorts just above the knee (peep above) the slim fit will really compliment your legs. The acid wash jeans above come for topman.com at the price of £30. 

If you do have slender legs and don't like to accentuate them then we recommend a pair of straight fit roll up denim shorts. The straight fit won't hug your legs, the little extra 'bag' will make your legs look fuller. Peep below the roll up denim shorts from asos.com coming in at £28.

For the fuller legged man Urban Trends would recommend straight fit shorts to be worn on or just below the knee. Wearing skinny or slim fitting shorts may show off problem areas and where the cuff lands could be unflattering as it may look like your leg is trying to burst out of your shorts. Urban Trends will now show you guys a look that can be done by anyone and will flatter any body type. Chinos is one of summers hottest looks. They can be worn down or rolled up for a cool 3/4 trouser look, peep the pair below

Janet Shows a Bit 'Too' Much

Peep above Janet Jackson at the London preview of her new film 'Why Did I Get Married Too' (which is an alright film). Liking the new short do that Ms Jackson is rocking lately. Now for the dress, really liking the the design, the colour and its overall fit, but the whole bra showing thing is just making me think of the Super Bowl incident and really takes away the class of the dress.

Rihanna was recently seen out and about in Paris. She's currently over there filming her new music video 'Te Amo'. Loving the the Burberry trench coat, the steel grey colour really compliments her skin tone and the ruffle effect is a cool touch.

It seems like this girl does all these crazy fashion choices for attention and not because she's expressing herself through the medium of clothing. Word has it that all her crazy costumes are eating up all of her hard earned cash. Bish better calm herself!

Check out Alternative R&B singer Janelle Monae covering Honey Magazine. Janelle is rocking my world on this cover. In the interview with the mag Janelle dishes on why she loves her tux's so much:

What does your closet look like? Is the tux really your daily uniform?
“Exactly like that. I bathe in it, I swim in it, and I could be buried in it. A tux is such a standard uniform, it’s so classy and it’s a lifestyle I enjoy. The tux keeps me balanced. I look at myself as a canvas. I don’t want to cloud myself with too many colors or I’ll go crazy. It’s an experiment I’m doing. I think I want to be in the Guinness Book of World Records.”

Spring/Summer 10 Trends- Dungarees (Oh Dear!)

Vougue.com are reporting that Dungarees will be this Spring/Summer hot trend. Urban Trends has never really been on dungarees, really can not see the stylish side of them. Wear them up your gardening, wear them down your a 16 year old chav. The one exception that we found is a pair of Dungarees from Gwen Stefani's L.A.M.B collection (above). A step away from denim has breathed new life into a dead piece of clothing. The beige colour and belt work really well to. Gwen is one of the few celebrity designers who Urban Trends can truly say knows how to make stylish and innovative clothing.

The tragic day that Rihanna has totally disappointed Urban Trends has come. Check out Rihanna above entering a medical building. Where to begin? hhmmm. This whole outfit makes me think of my nan for some strange reason. The laced arms, the straw hat, everything just doesn't sit right. Her skirt/shorts look like they need to be put on a kitchen table. We got love for RiRi but this is just a no no.

Peep above Adidas Originals advert for their women's collection. The ad contains models and stars from across the world. Most noticeable stars in the ad are singer/actress Adrienne Bailon (3LW & Cheetah Girls) how she scored this international ad I don't know and R&B star Ciara. Some of the clothes in the ad are most definitely 'original' e.g. Ciara's dress. Urban Trends are thinking that Adidas should stick to what they do best: sport clothes, cause that dress Ciara was wearing was a hot mess!

A ToyWatch watch can easily set you back £135 (Selfridges & Co) and has been worn by many celebs, even the First Lady Michelle Obama has been seen rocking one. They come in loads of different colours and you can even customise them on the Toywatch's online store. Urban Trends has found a cheaper alternative for all you stylish people!

This similar looking watch comes from asos.com and costs £49, like ToyWatch asos offers this watch in a variety of colours, but the yellow and green version was Urban Trends fav! £49 still a bit too much for you? Well Urban Trends has found a cheaper alternative to the cheaper alternative!

Here's the first of Urban Trends 'Style Spotlight' posts. Above we have Caterina Richmond sporting a very cute look. Urban Trends particularly love Ms. Caterina's short grey jumper which was only £5 from Tesco. Bargain or what! Also peep Caterina's necklace below, its a beaut. She got it over at Topshop for £10.

Hope For Dereon

Peep these pics from Beyonce and Tina Knowles new Dereon campaign. If you didn't know the 'Dereon' clothing range was created by both Beyonce and Tina and to put it frankly most of the clothes are straight up garbage which no one should be caught in.

However these pics show hope for the designing duo. The t-shirt and edgy waist coat are straight up hotness. The colours are bang on, loving the one sided studed shoulder pad and the dangling bullets on chains are a cool touch. But the Knowles clang has lost Urban Trends with the studed riped short shorts. We ain't feelin the studs all over the front but the rest of the look is hot, not to mention Beyonce is looking steller in these pics!
